Hollywood Primary School is very fortunate to have a 25m outdoor pool on the school grounds. The pool is a much-loved and utilised school and community resource. It has provided for generations of children and community members since 1971. The pool was built with money raised from the Education Department, the City of Nedlands Council and the P&C Association. The asset is owned by the Department of Education but is run and maintained by the P&C through its Pool Committee.
In 2015, a huge fundraising effort by parents and our local community commenced. The result was a large scale refurbishment of the pool and in 2016 the project was completed - much to the delight of students, parents and the community. The pool surface has been replaced, a new fence installed and the change rooms updated.
The pool is only 1.2m at its deepest point and ideal for children of primary school age. It is serviced by a pool contractor who monitors the water quality regularly. The pool is used in the warmer months for in-term swimming lessons for years PP-4 and for swimming during sports lessons for all year groups. During the summer vacation, VacSwim run classes there.
Thanks to the work of the P&C and a generous annual grant from the City of Nedlands, the swimming pool is open to the school and broader community outside school hours during the summer season. If you and your family would like access to the school pool you can purchase a Pool Season Key.
