Great news from the teams that went to the Quest Brainways competition at UWA!
The competition was made up of the three components of Maths, Science and HASS. Teams of three students worked on specialized, open ended questions involving material well beyond the normal curriculum. Maths material included calculus, Science material included quantum physics and HASS material included utopian worlds.
Our teams did extremely well. The Year 1-3 team consisting of Darius, Metta and Dani emerged as champions in their section! They pipped 3 other teams from Wesley College and Como Primary, topping the Maths and Science section.
The Year 4-6 team consisting of Sarah, Zach and Santi were runners up in their category! They were up against 9 other teams from St Mary’s (first), Wesley College, Aquinas College and Como Primary School, topping the Maths section and placing second in the HASS.
Also taking part was the Year 4 team of Kaitlyn, Kyan and Layne, who enjoyed themselves greatly in the two-day event.
The champion and runner-up teams will be invited to represent WA in the national tournament held in Queensland in December.
This result is such a testament to the training the students have received from the school and the efforts that the school has made to support pathways for all students to take up challenging academic opportunities.
