Hollywood is acknowledged for its strong academic performances in external assessments such as NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) and ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) run by the University of New South Wales. Hollywood students have also won a number of academic scholarships to secondary schools. Gifted and Talented students are able to participate in extension classes through PEAC (Primary Extension and Academic Challenge). Students who require additional support are provided with individualised and specifically designed programs.
Hollywood classrooms are all equipped with interactive white boards, laptops and iPads in order to engage and support students.
Students are encouraged to join the school choir and/or the School and Community Band or the Blukelele (Ukulele) Band. At an individual level, those with aptitude and interest are offered access the School of Instrumental Music for specialist teaching of Cello, Brass, Flute, Guitar and Violin.
With its own 25m swimming pool and surrounded by substantive ovals, Hollywood Primary School students are actively encouraged to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle. Interschool, after school and weekend sporting activities covering netball, hockey, football and soccer are available and tennis coaching is also available courtesy of a public tennis court 50m from the school boundary.
At Hollywood we care about the whole child and take care to ensure every child is supported along their individual learning journey. We offer a sense of belonging and security for all our children and support actively engaged parents to work with us on creating the best possible environment for our children.
Hollywood is a highly literate school with a library of thousands of books which is constantly upgraded and refreshed. Our P&C provide extensive support and extra contributions are made by parents.
As an Independent Public School, Hollywood has a School Board as well as a P&C and both are highly visible and engaged parts of the Hollywood School community. In addition, Hollywood is part of a vibrant local community surrounded by private and public hospitals as well as one of Australia’s leading universities, The University of Western Australia and a bustling café strip nearby.
